As we move into the end of the year, I felt called to dedicate November’s theme to emotional self care.
When we come to the end of the year, we can often feel tired, exhausted and overwhelmed.
Why?
There are two things we know to be true:
+ The seasons are changing with purpose
+ Our overall well-being is intricately tied to nature
It’s important to remember that our emotions are valid, especially when you acknowledge the connection between your emotions and the world around us.
There are so many seasonal factors outside of our control which impact our mental well-being; hours of daylight, temperature, sunlight.
For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere right now, you may be experiencing a case of the ‘winter blues’ with the colder weather and darker evenings affecting your mood and energy levels.
This is in stark comparison to the Southern Hemisphere, where the Summer heat and intense sunlight can evoke feelings of irritability, anxiety and lethargy.
On top of these seasonal changes, the end of the year can induce feelings of regret and anxiety, especially when we’re being inundated with messages from the news and what’s happening in the world.
As always, there is a silver lining, and something I wanted to remind you of:
This is the perfect time to come back to your body and re-remember that everything you need is already inside yourself.
By letting go of the external noise and your environment, you will allow yourself the opportunity to return to your body and the present moment, so you can go through life with more stillness and create resiliency to pause when difficult emotions arise.
