Self care can be yoga and skin care, but there’s also plenty of self care rituals that allow us to get in touch with our sensual self and physical being.
Many women haven’t really seen themselves down there, but getting to know ourselves is a huge part of learning to truly love yourself. If you want to practice sensual self care and get in touch with a brand new side of yourself try practicing yoni gazing. If this is all a little new to you, try spending some time learning about your female anatomy first, and then get started. You’ll need a handheld mirror.
A bath is on all of the self care lists, and it is a great way to fill your own cup, but it can be much more than just that. Baths have been used as cleansing rituals in so many different traditions, to purify, nurture and nourish body and soul. A ritual bath means truely taking the time to make it special and filling the ritual with everything that is sacred to you. Start small and make every little part of this ritual intentional and sacred. Don’t go overboard to do this “the right way” but let yourself be drawn to scents and sacred items that speak to you.
Self massage can be a great sensual ritual to get in touch with your own body and showing yourself some love and attention.
Try starting with this relaxing face massage from The Self Care Space.
Moving in a free and sensual way can be a great way to get in touch with yourself and honour a primal side of yourself. Free movement can be many things, so tune inwards and make it your own.
You can step on your yoga mat, but let your body move in a free way that feels good, tuning in to the sensations of each stretch and allowing yourself to move outside of the lines of a regular yoga flow. You might be able to find some inspiration in this Chakra Expansion Flow, which has loads of free movement and somatic release. You could also put on your favourite music and dance around the living room, close the curtains and let loose. Clothes are optional.
However you move and whatever you wear, tune into how you feel in your body and let yourself be free.
