Self care sunday is not just a catchy social media trend. Because most people work Monday to Friday and have the weekend to unwind, Sundays are the perfect time to fill your own cup and recharge for the new week ahead. Some weeks that might mean just doing the laundry and meal prepping, so you can start the week fresh. But if you’re lucky enough to have a whole day to dedicate to slow and mindful self care here’s a suggestion for a full self care sunday plan.
Indulge yourself and sleep for as long as you possibly can, then turn over and snooze a little longer yet. When you’re ready to open your eyes, start the day with a meditation in bed to wake up slowly and gently. You can also use this time to set an intention for the day or the week ahead to get into a positive mindset. Even if you have to tip toe out of bed in your pyjamas to make a cup of tea to take back to bed, that still counts as waking up slowly and mindfully.

Connecting with nature and letting the energy of the air and earth refuel you is one of my favourite forms of self care. Whatever the weather, get outside for a little stroll today. If you live in the city head to your favourite park and if you have nature on your doorstep, enjoy it!

Nourishing your body with a wholesome and nutritious meal is such a simple way of showing yourself some love and care. If you’re often busy and don’t get to cook much, spend today trying a new recipe or even just a new ingredient. Sit down to enjoy your meal without any distractions and cherish every bite, share it with loved ones or eat mindfully on your own, noticing every sensation the meal brings you.
End the day on your mat. Winding down with yoga is my favourite way to end the day and especially on Sunday nights, so I can wake up Monday feeling refreshed and ready for a new week. My favourite practices are slow yin classes or just some gentle stretches with my favourite relaxing playlist playing, but listen to your body and find the practice and style that your mind and body is craving.
